IMAP connections limit fix
So yeah, sometimes I bang my head against a problem for too long before I give up and call support. ( about 2 1/2 hours last night ) Since I switched from shared hosting with 1and1 to a 1and1 VPS I’ve been really impressed with the dedicated server support I get now. Last night server support finally failed me. I was trying to set up 3 e-mail accounts via IMAP and they wouldn’t all connect at the same time. When I called support the dude told me that it must be my ISP limiting the number of IMAP connections. I didn’t really buy this answer. I did some more searching and finally hit on this link. It explains how to increase the IMAP connection limit to allow more connections from the same IP address. Once I edited the configuration file for courier-imap and re-started the server I was able to get all the accounts set up at the same time. The moral of the story is, don’t get a VPS unless you are willing to put in the time to tweak it to suit your needs.
