I don't know anything about bass fishing…
Sony MDR-EX51LP In-ear buds

The other day the left earbud of my iPod headphones died of a Marilyn Manson overdose. It would still play a little bit, but anything with bass or power would cause it to buzz and rattle. Even though I’m trying to keep my spending to a minimum now due to the dental situation there is no point to having an iPod if you can’t listen to it, so I bought new buds to replace the broken ones. I read up online and decided not to replace the stock buds with the same thing even though I thought they were fairly high quality. I read about a pair made by Sony. (MDR-EX51LP if you are keeping track) I made a quick run to my nearby electronics store and picked them up. I tried listening with them for the 5 minute trip home and was initially disappointed. They fell out twice and the sound was terrible. Since they are in-ear type buds they must be properly fitted in order to work. They came with 3 different size plugs that fit on the end of each driver unit. Since the medium ones had already fallen out I tried using the large ones. I fitted them in my ears using the 2-handed method I read about online and fired up my iPod. All I can say now is WOW!!!! These things are worlds away from the stock buds. The sound is rich, but the bass is not muddy. With high quality tracks the soundstage sounds expansive. I haven’t had time to listen to a wide range of tracks yet, but I doubt that I will find a type of music that isn’t amazing with these buds.
On a different note, It’s now 12:30 PM… I have an consultation appointment with the oral surgeon at 2:00 PM, and my train home leaves at 5:55 PM. Right now I haven’t packed a thing, but I have “my” laptop ready to go. I should dump some more movies on it to watch on the train but I probably won’t do that because if I don’t I’ll be more motivated to work with my photos. I’m only going home for 2 days ( 3 if I can change the ticket without paying a ton more ) so I don’t really need to pack that much. Gotta go get packed…
