Removal +4 Days 7 Hours

The word of the day is “Dry Socket.” Say it with me… DRY SOCKET. Now that you can say it, check out Google to find out what it means. I’ll tell you what it meant to me… It meant that I got to wake up last night in the worst pain I have experinced since I was in the hospital and almost died. In case you didn’t click the google link, a dry socket is when a blood clot forms where the tooth used to be, but then it decides it doesn’t like you so it jumps out. This leaves the bone of your jaw exposed. My jawbone was very angry about being exposed. When it woke me up last night nothing would help the pain. I took 2 Vicodin and eventually passed out. Work today involved a lot of pain.
Now you may be asking yourself, What can be done for this horrible dry socket pain? The oral surgeon inserted a tiny piece of cotton gauze soaked in anti-biotic into the socket. That’s the miracle cure. That simple thing has almost totally eliminated the pain I was having. I have to go back in two days to either have the pads removed or replaced. The surgeon said I should be back to normal by Monday. I’m really hoping that happens.
